Le Destin Antique 1986 Le Destin Antique was first published in 1868 by Eugène D’Auriac in Paris under the title “Le Destin Antique rétabli d’après les anciens manuscrits Chaldaïques, Syriaques et autres avec une introduction historique sur le jeu de cartes”, accompanied by a 32-page cardboard box printed by Grimaud in lithography and hand-coloured, entitled “Le Destin Antique”, with a plain pink back. The original copies are available on the Bibliothèque Nationale de France website here and here, where it can be seen that all subsequent editions of the deck, including 19th and 20th century editions such as the one here, published by Piatnik in 1986, are based on this original version, inspired by Eugène D’Auriac’s studies of ancient divination. I love the little stickers in the top right corner. Each card is numbered and there is a miniature playing card in the corner, but without a title. The little vignettes add additional nuance to the interpretation of the card reading.
